Yes. You will spool a lot better with the 3", and it won't be obnoxiously loud, with the muffling effect of the turbo. Go for the 3". Buschur is now selling a 3.5" exhaust for the 1G AWD, by the way. Sounds badass! Maybe I will rig up a 3.5" exhaust someday.
Wait... maybe my car will start someday! :P -=B-=

Might as well go with a 3 inch exhaust, as long as it isn't too loud for you.

go 3", bigger if you can. Bigger the exhaust the better for turbo. Jus my 2.5" is obnoxious, get the 3" and really annoy some peeps. :thumbsup

2.5" should be good enough, save your money for something else if you already had a catback, 3 inch is a bitch to install also it's like way bigger than 2.5 inch, but if you really must go ahead and get the 3 inch I don't see how it could be quieter than a 2.5" though it should be louder, mine is loud as hell. or you can get a 3 inch inlet muffler, if you don't have a straight through muffler or you don't like the sound of your existing muffler get a 3 inch inlet muffler and have it welded onto your 2.5 inch piping.

I was going to ask the same exact question. I just bought a HRC stage II and I am running on the stock exhaust with a GST muffler. I really want to get the Greddy EVO system, but there's a big price difference between the 2.5 and 3 and I see we have conflicting views on the board. I know a 3 inch will flow better and be better for the turbo, but is it really worth it?

If you already have a 2.5" exhaust, i would wait on it. But if you are gonna do the exhaust up anyway, then go 3", may as well get a lil extra out o the deal while you are in there.

Kind feel like I'm stealing the thread, but oh well. Ok, lets say for arguments sake I go with the Greddy 3". The 3" is made for the GST, and the 2.5 is made for the RS/GS. It's a cat back system ... so are the cats on the GS and the GST the same?? In short, can I bolt up the Greddy 3" to our existing cat? (not that I'd keep that cat, but that's a different thread). I'm thinking they are since the GST and GS exhuasts are the same other than the muffler.

You're right Chris. The RS/GS/GST exhausts are all shaped the same - so they're routed the same and all. But I'm not sure if a 3 incher would bolt up to the stock cat though. I've got a 2.5 inch test pipe with the stock 2-1/4 inch downpipe and a GST Exhaust(also 2-1/4). It's only different by a quarter inch. It fits ok, not great. It kind of fits on there sloppy. I don't think a 3 incher'll bolt up to the stock cat, but I haven't tried it.
Maybe George's exhaust guy can fashon you a nice 3 inch downpipe. After I heard his setup, I pretty much decided that 3 inch was a must for me. :thumbsup

I'm not as worried about the downpipe as I am about the cat. You have to modify the downpipe anyway to adapt the HRC system (at least that's how I understand it). I just want a nice fat cat that I can bolt the Greddy up against and I'm not real sure where to look. I may have to post this in the turbo forum.
