Iight peeps, I have searched in 3 different forums and cant find the exact answer I need. I have a '95 eclipse, I sprun a rod bearing and yada yada yada, all that good stuff, now I need to take of my crank b/c my #4 cylinder shaft is scratched to hell. I have read the chiltons, and another manual, how the hell does this work... this is the only thing I can come up w/. I have the pulley puller, I dont "remove" the crankpulley bolt, I just "loosen" it up and let it come out about 1/2 of an inch, then I connect the puller to it and let it press off of the bolt...right? I was talkin to 2 of my friends, one is Ms.Cleo of DSM (Justin) and he agrees w/ me. There is another way, but it requires a special tool (MB995057), but I think it would be used the same as the orginal "loosened" pulley bolt. Please help, thanks

take out the bolt to the crankshaft pulley. Hook up the three prong puller and tighten the bolt on the puller and it should come off. If u dont have the puller u need u can probably rent it at advance or autozone

you might want to use a spare bolt (buy ne the size of the pulley bolt) because the puller might gouge into the bolt, also, after a while, you might just have to hit it with a hammer from behind to poke it off that extra bit.

Thanks Leitnin, yeah I have thought of that. I take it you have done it before... Obviously GSX Killer 2g99rsnc hasnt, if you just remove the bolt, it wont have anything off of to push against to pull off the pulley. If I do it as you say, in reality if I was strong enough and the puller was strong enough, it'd end up bending the pulley in half. the one i used had a piece that just went into the end of the crankshaft and u didnt have to have the bolt in. I thought it would mess up the threads but it was tapperd in a way that it wouldnt. Also i didnt beat the GSX that was one of my friends my car is down right now wating on the phantom grip to get here so i can put in my new tranny.

also used a air tools made it alot easier i know what i'm doing i've changed the timming belt on 2 eclipse's

when i did it, to get it back on (just so you have some info, a 3/4 inch tire iron fits a 19mm bolt basically perfectly, i never stripped the bolt and it was nice because it was really long and i could get leverage. 3/4 of an in ch is really close to 19 but be careful if it slips you can throw your hand really hard into the brakes (i did even though it didn't slip)

if you need more advise let me know, i did the job on my afx pulley with minimal tools in a driveway, so....yeah

whats up with the smartass comment i was just trying to help and i guess i used a differnt type of puller then u are. I used a haromonic puller or something like that for a neon and it worked great.
