47349, AEM Cam Gear Bolts ??
Posted by TalonSpeed, Mar-23-03 06:17 AM
I have a set of AEM cam gears which are dying to be installed. But I got the old model of the cam gears, with the old Alan style bolts. These bolts often strip and slip. I was looking to replace the bolts with some stronger hex bolts.

I think my local Napa store has the bolts, but I dont know which ones to get and they dont either. Anybody know part numbers for the updated bolts?

Strongest bolts you find, at least grade 8.8 if you can find higher, even better, 10.9 would be outstanding.

The grade 8 bolts should be more than enough for the cam gears.

good LOCK WASHERS are whats needed, its not the strength of the bolt but the fact that the lock washers are crappy on the allen bolts and come loose allowing timing to get funked.
