47305, UPDATE: VT Competition Engine Development Posted by Matt_95tgs, Mar-22-03 12:48 PM
Well, for those of you who called these guys, thanks a ton! They have ordered a torque plate (deck plate) for the 420a because of the interest that you gave them. I'm soooo pumped that they will have a deck plate to bore with.
Nick at VT also gave me a price quote for building up short blocks the same way that howell does. The only thing is that they need core blocks since they don't have any at the moment. But, given that you send them a core to work on, they said that they will clean, bore, and hone the block using a deck plate and assemble it with JE Pistons (others available upon request), eagle rods, clevitte 77 bearings, and JE rings for approx $1500. This includes complete balancing of the entire rotating assembly. This is one helluva deal in my opinion.
This shop takes soooo much pride in their work, and everything that comes out of there is top notch. The pictures of their shop alone should tell you this since you could eat off the floor (see http://www.vtengines.com/about.html if you haven't already).
Also, I would like to let you know that they are interested in doing a stroker kit for the 420A as well, pending that they are again given enough interest. They are looking into the means of producing one now, and if the demand is there, we will have another source for stroker kits as well :7.
For those of you who are looking for more than just block work, they can do ANYTHING... p&p, oversize valves.... whatever you want basically, you just need to call them at 517-272-7728. Thanks again guys!
