I got this valve cover gasket set with spark plug gaskets also from Checker auto on the web. My receipt says Valve Cover gasket set 1996 Eagle Talon ESi (which is exactly what I have). But these gaskets came in the set:



In Corbin's writeup the spark plug tubes don't have the little extra holes for bolting down...while the gaskets in the set I got do have those extra holes. (Doesn't look right to me)



Also, it came with this little half-moon shaped piece that is talked about in Chilton's manual as a part for the 1.8 VC set (???) It is hi-lighted in the pic below:



should I take it back? It says on the receipt that I could take it back to my local Checker instead of having to mail it back, so it would be real easy. Guys that have done the replacement themselves, I would appreciate your advice.

It looks wrong to me.

The other thing that looks wrong is that there are holes for the vc bolts in that gasket where ours should actually route around the holes - so that where those holes are you would see it curve inward around the bolt. Also, its a little wierd that it takes a 90 degree bend inward after the cams - on mine it just goes straight to the next cam.

Maybe thats the one for the TSi?

Yeah, that doesn't look right. Our gaskets don't go around the bolts like that one does, and that one also looks like it doesn't have the hump to go over the cam angle sensor.

thanks for your input guys, I was 95% positive this was the wrong kit, I just needed to make sure. It's going back tomorrow morning. (damn it, I wanted to get that done today!)

I got that same kit from NAPA when I was picking up parts for Kris's car. I took it back and just sealed his with copper gasket maker.

yeah our VC gaskets don't have any bolt holes in them...

Looks like the 4g gasket. Definitely not ours though.
