I hate my shifter PERIOD! The shifter is too tall, the throw too long, engagement is too hit or miss, and overall just too jiggly.

Well I purchases another stock shifter, gonna have it shortened up some. I think I am gonna get some of those MachV bushings for the shift plate.

But check this other bushing set. What do u you guys thing about this?

I emailed the guy about if these bushings work for the 2Gnt and he said:
"I am not sure %100 if my kit fits the 2G's..... I think it does, as I have sold them to 2G'ers and not had any complaints, but they might have all been turbo's......(same engine and tranny as 1G) My bushings fit at the transmision end of the cables, so having the same shifter plate is not really relavent. If I could get some good pictures of the transmision I would be able to tell....... or a 2G to test on!"

Get the mach v ones or the ES poly bushings. One of the big advantages of the Mach V ones are they also come with a sleeve that installs in the pivot point of the shifter. This tightens the shifter up quite a bit.

I guess you are talking about the symborski shifter kit? Is MachV the only place to get it? Just wondering if there is somewhere cheaper, thier prices seem high on most items. Thanks!:thumbsup

No this is totally different. This repaces the bushings in the linkage. The idea is great, I use a set of hard polyurathane ones in my Neon from Modern Performance. Replacing all four bushings, two at the trans and two at the shifter.

This replaces the crappy rubber bushings in the shift linkage attaching the linkage to the trans.

Here are the problems I see with this specific kit.
1. It only replaces the bushings at the trans, not the shifter, puting more wear on the linkage bushings at the shifter.
2. I just don't like the clip design after sliding the brass in from the bottom.
3. I'm not sure I like brass for this application, I'm sure it was done because it was the cheaest one to use. I would rather see a hard urathane.

you said you bought a brand new stocker? whats the point of that, i dont think the shifter itself can wear out. but your definitely doing good with the custom short shift mod and symbroski shift kit.
