46929, Is this normal???
Posted by Doug96GS, Mar-17-03 02:31 PM
My car has an overheating problem and after pulling into my apartment complex, I decided to try and find out why my temp guage spikes. I popped my hood while the temp guage was up like 2/3 of the way and I saw that both of my fans were running, and no I was not running the A/C. The strange thing was that the passenger's side fan was blowing considerably warmer air than the driver's side fan. Is this normal?

When the coolant temp gets to a certain point, it will kick the other fan on, AC or not. it's an auxillary cooling fan, not just for when the AC is on.

If it only overheats when you're stopped, (or idling) and the fans are on, then its probably the thermostat.

Thanks Dino. I'll try getting a new thermostat and see if that helps. I bought this past one from NAPA in the summer. Any suggestions or is a thermostat a thermostat?
