46584, completed and smoking
Posted by Leitnin, Mar-12-03 06:25 PM
so i put together the engine with afx pulley, jeep TB and ABS cold air intake and removed egr. there was smoke coming off the headers (gasket not good enough?) and a lot of smoke out the tailpipe. cylinder 1 was full of oil (covering the spark plug) is that all thats wrong? smoke is whitish, maybe. its dark so its hard to see.

opinions?

if you mean that you just finished installing your engine, I would imagine that the smoke would be normal, especially if you just did your v.c. gasket (read earlier post about cyl 1). it should take a bit of time for the oil to burn out of that cylinder and for the oils to burn off of your header.

its not a new engine, but while i was doing my jeep TB, CAI AFX UDP and egr blockoff, i removed the valve cover and headers etc, just for fun (and to make working in there easier. spark plug 1 was totally full of oil, so i assume its just gonna be a while.

any idea how long it should be smoking like that?

make sure you put a new plug in it or clean that one, hehe

did u replace the gaskets for the valve cover? Or are u sure that u installed them right? It sounds kinda like oil is leaking down into your plug wells
