46548, high idle and rough
Posted by Leitnin, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
i just put on a jeep TB and AFX pulley and blocked my EGR. i put the car back together and started it up. it runs up to 3k rpm, then down and idles at 2k. engine shut off is very harsh. i have no engine codes

any ideas?

i doubt it has any relation to the AF/X pulley unless you forgot to put on the alternator belt. when the ECU sees that the battery isn't charging at idle it will increace RPM's to see if it can get it to charge.

i bet something's fubar with your new throttle body. is the IAC plugged in and nice and happy? is your TPS functioning properly? did you torque the 2 throttle body bolts to spec and put in a new gasket?

the iac and tps are in. as far as being happy im not sure. i also agree its pretty much got to be the TB. The bolts are on and the gasket is in, and so im really not sure whats wrong. what can i do to check things?

the intake manifold bottom bolts may not be tight enough. could that be the problem in your opinion (seems kinda likely)

Did you close up that extra hole in the jeep TB, I thought it had to be welded or tapped and have a bolt inserted into it.

But its def from your TB, did you mess with the position of the IAC motor??
Did you get a CEL??

I bet you forgot to close up that other hole or you moved the IAC motor too much and now the ECU has no idea of its position and say when its open (extended) half way the ECU sees it as fully open

i pluged the hole already, and the IAC and TPS are right. I know this because i got under there and tightened down the intake manifold a little more and now it runs perfectly. thanks for the help
