I've given up on my old one, i can't get it on allt he way, and it wobbles like hell. so, i bought a new one :) Is there a proper way to get this thing on??? Any tips are welcomed :)

Heat it to about 400 deg F (use a small blowtorch, or put it in a toaster oven :) ) and then (using oven mits, obviously) just push it fully onto the end of the crankshaft. Let it cool as much as possible, then tighten to at least 105 lbs*ft of torque.

haha, i'll be running like hell with it, my shop is about 1/2 block from my house

heh, then get a small portable torch :) that pulley has to be put on fairly quickly after heating it up since it cools down quickly (low specific heat capacity)

i have one, actually 2,i just thought it would warp the thing if i heated a portion of it :)

I get the AFX pulley on everytime, using an impact wrench. If you can get access to one then read on. Get a crank bolt that is at least 1" longer than the stock one. Set the AFX pulley on the crank as far as it will go(i never have heated it), and it will prob only just set on there on the end of the crank. Thread in your longer bolt, using at least 2 big, thick washers, using some oil or moly lube inbetween the washers, and on the outside of the washers(you want to lower the friction). Start out with the impact lightly, dont hammer down on it right away. Go in small increments, and you should see the pulley start to slowly go on. Once you get the pulley about 3/4 of the way on, take out the longer bolt, then use the stock crank bolt. Continue tightening it, and keep doing till the pulley doesnt go on any farther. Take out the bolt once again, and look inside the crank hole of the pulley, and you should see the edge of the crank mating with the backside of the AFX pulley, to assure you, that its on fully. Discard the wahsers, and put back on the stock bolt, and tighten down fully. I have done it this way many, many times, without ANY problems whatso ever. The heating method usually will only work when you use about 400 degrees, with the pulley being heated for AT LEAST one hour. Yes, it does take that long. Most say the heating method doesnt work, but they just dont heat it long enough.

i don't have AFX pulley, just another stock one. I have an impact wrench, and have torqued the hell out of that bolt, to no avail. it just won't go on enough. And when it's on, it wobbles like crazy.

same procedure applies to the stock pulley too. I have no idea why it wont go on. It does take a pretty powerful impact wrench, at least a good 500 ft lb one. A weak impact wrench will usually not work very well or at all. If the pulley is wobling, then its good you got a new one, cause that must have been bent or something. Be sure to check the crankshaft end, to be sure its not damaged, has nicks in it, or burrs, or rust. It should be nice and smoothe.

I think it's bent cause i beat the piss out of it :)

when i put my pulley back on i used the longer bolt method. i didn't even need an impact to get it on, just to torque it down. if your crankshaft is bent your gonna have to replace it.

nah, crankshaft is nice and smooth, not bent. Just the pulley

i am afraid to take my AFX pulley off... I pulled most of it on with the stock bolt, and it took a lot of work. I'm afraid that when/if I take it off there won't be any threads left }(

My unorthodox racing UDP just pops on and off with the force of your arms, so I guess I get lucky w/ this one :-)

maybe it's time for some hot dremel action.

use a washer, one with about 1 1/2" diameter, to distribute the force more.... should help a lil...

also, an impact wrench, (air powered) would werk wunders, imo...

Anyone have the dimensions for the 1" longer bolt?

crank bolt size is a M12 1.75 thread pitch. I cant find how long it is, but its around 3.5" long (stock), so just find one that is at least 1" longer, and you will be fine.
