4647, Installing gauges
Posted by RAIZIN, Jul-05-01 08:02 AM
I had some of my guages installed with the brackets and sitting on my dash.. but now I'm going to stick them in my pillar mount and dash bezel. Thing is.. they won't fit with those posts sticking out of the back (autometer). How did some of you take these posts off? Did you just cut them off or do they unscrew?

I don't think they unscrew. I've looked inside the gauges through the bulb hole and i don't see a nut. I think those screws actually hold the gauge together on the inside. Cut them, it won't hurt anything.

Yup, just cut them off, but leave at least 1/4-1/2" and screw a nut in it to prevent it from falling back into the gauge housing. Sometimes those mounting screws aren't very tight.
