Okay guys -- so today -- i was in 3rd and trying to hit the gas and of course the car did what its been doing for a while -- bucking a little -- backfiring etc...

And at long last i get an error code 12 / 43

12 -- battery disconnected in last 50 key stroke -- I had my entire battery out a few weeks ago

43 -- Ignition coil -- so i guess thats the answer eh?? Should I check wires first -- what type of Ohm load should i expect, and also in checking the ignition coil -- do i stick the red probe (multimeter) on one terminal and the black probe on another -- little confused here.

Thanks.

well since you ordered a new one already I dont think you need to do anything but replace it

But here is the info

2.0L DOHC 420A
Ignition coil- remove the three pin connector from the side of the coil pack and test the primary coil resistance. Do this by connecting the center pin to one of the other two pins(do it for both outside pins). Resistance should read .45-.65 ohms. Secondary coil pack resistance can be tested by connecting sparkplug wire towers 1 and 4 together and 2 and 3 together(#’s are on the coil pack). Resistance should read 12K-14K ohms.

12 is nothing...dont worry about it. your 43 does indicate that your coil pack is bad...but you can also throw a 43 if your plugs/wires are bad. i got the code and replaced my plugs and wires and fixed it..but yesterday a guy i helped ended up changing out his wires/plug and it didnt help so he replaced the coil pack and it fixed his prob. he did the check with the mulitmeter and got acceptable reading so dont rely on that. if its not your plugs/wires, replace your coil pack. trust me on this one.

What are ring lands??? I have no code now... just checked the old coil pack -- ~12k ohms between the towers... and exactly .6 between the pins... so I am guessing it wasn't really the coil pack after all... there is some corrosion on tower 3 though -- i am guessing this is because some manner of moisture got in there... and if there is moisture in there -- i would imagine the wire connected to tower 3 has moisture on its connector too -- this has got to be it .. i hate living in jersey right next to the city and not having a damn parts store near me -- wtf???

Anyways -- clay ... need help finding parts store with hi-performance wires in stock -- msd wires are about $45 or so... know of anywhere???
