How hard is it to do a full rebuid with a fully built bottom end... I have an extra 420a so i wont really have too much down time...but how long of a process are we talking? also to go all motor, what is a good compresion to use..should i keep it stock or up it? i think for a turbo 8:5:1 is good but i dont know anything else...also where is a good place to get a rebuild kit and pistons/rods/anything else i need...this is my first rebuild so im clueless!!!:) :) :)

ive gotta rebuild kit for ya if your going all motor u can run 10.5:1 compression...

down time depends on how mechanically inclined u are and how good of tools that are available..

some people can pull a motor and put it back in the same day others it takes 4days...

if u have your spare motor built and assembled to drop it will definatly save time..

with extra hands and a good idea of what you are doing, you can have it swapped in a weekend. But be prepaired to make other arrangements for transportation should you need to span two weekends... You can always run into unforseen difficulties or the need to replace things along the way. If you've never done a project of this magnitude you may want to find a friend who has, just to make sure you don't miss anything.

The actually building of the block, doing it yourself I don't recommend without some knowledge. Too many clearances to check and what-not. Machinework on the engine usually takes about a week, just depends on what shop you use. Please spend the extra money and get the assembly balanced when you do it.

i also do recomend having a shop asseble the block if u do not have an expireenced motor builder friend to help you...

its a good idea to do the timing belt and tensioner while u have the motor apart...

I have a few friends who have done this exact motor before..im in Columbus DSM...thank you so much for the info..when the time comes for this i will post so we can talk parts and yes i will replace alot of things when the motor is out!! HEHE
