45607, A Few Cat Questions! Posted by SlowButLow, Feb-28-03 03:38 PM
Here they go....
1. What is a gutted cat?
2. If you buy one of those straight pipes off of eBay that replace your cat, does your check engine light come on for any reason? Because I know it comes on sometimes relating to your cat.
3. Where can I buy one of those bald cats (i.e. Mr. Biggelsworth) and for how much. Those things kick ass!

A gutted cat is just that--gutted. That's when all the catalyst inside the catalytic converter has been knocked out and cleaned, so what you're left with is a hollow chamber. If you put in a gutted cat or test pipe, you might get a CEL. However, I've had my gutted cat on for about 5 months now and no CEL. It varies from car to car.
