I've noticed that some people have a Jeep 60mm TB. Is this a direct replacement for the stock TB on a 420a? If so, what years of the Jeep TB will fit?

Thanks

Toney(1TuffRS on the board) can hook you up with one.

i have my jeep throttle body on but there is a vacume hose on the old TB and no place for one on the new one. what do i do with the hose that goes up there? plug it? put it somewhere?

That hose goes to the EVAP system, and if you don't plug it back in then eventually you'll get an evap code. I plugged mine back into the manifold - as your facing the motor towards the rear and on the left side of the manifold there is a free vaccuum port covered up with a rubber nipple. I was getting an EVAP code, till I plugged it into there.

the three vacume ports. can someone double check for me where they go?

I tried the jeep TB yesterday, and had the same problem. I blocked off the hole on the intake manifold, and swapped the jeep sensor tip to the stock sensor, and the trottle plate was closed completly. But it still idled around 3 to 4000 rpm. I took it apart and double checked everything, and it still didn't work.;( Anymore idea's?

What hole? The idle port? You should have done that already.

You should have used the jeep tip in the first place. That is the correct tip. Don't use the original tip. The IAC port is bigger in the Jeeper.

If you have high idle than it's definately a vaccuum leak. Check to make sure that the stock idle port is sealed properly. Also make sure that the new gasket seals to the manifold properly - especially in the area close to the original idle port hole(that should be plugged).

Try running the engine and forcing the throttle closed by hand. If it idles normally than the problem has to do with spring tension - that or you didn't back the throttle cable out far enough.

i pluged the hole, used the jeep iac tip, and the correct spring al;l the first time. turns out the intake manifold uppers weren't tight enough on the lower runners. my jeep TB is fine. check that out. and make sure your vacume lines are right

Thats right. I keep forgetting to mention you as well when someone wants one. Sorry :7

I won't make them for people, but I like to help when theres a problem. I really need to update the writeup with a couple of issues that people seem to be having with it in general....like setting the tip position and the vaccuumm line and maybe something in general about tracking down high idle(vaccuum leak).

So is it still idling high even when you force the plate shut all the way by hand? If it is, then the vaccuum leak could be due to the gasket. Take the gasket off and take a look at it. Make sure that there is a good seal all the way around the bore of the TB. Pay close attention to the intake side of the manifold - the plug that you used to block the secondary port should not be jutting into the TB bore area. Also, try making sure that the TB is bolted on tight.

To find a leak, or to see if you have one. Spray all around the area with starting fluid, while car is running. If idle screws up, you have a air leak.

One thing to remember, the jeep throttle bodies have a high idle affect. Meaning, our cars stock have a high idle issue in the manual tranny version. Like when comming to a stop car idle with hang around 1500- then drop when completly stopped. With the jeep TB it seem to be a little longer hang, and a little higher idle. Not a big deal just takes time to get used to.

Believe me when I say, this mod makes your car feel like a new car. The throttle response is unbalievable, and I can spin the hell out of second gear and chirp third, not saying your car will do the same, but mine does, with my supporting mods.

Well like allways, if anyone needs my help, or has any detail questions hit me up!!:thumbsup

I got off work early today so im going to try it again. I stopped by Pepboys on the way home and they just got in some of those button plugs, the first time I had to use silicone adhesive on a small peice of sheet metal. Also do you think I should try using two gaskets and just bolt it down very tight, the meterial I have seems kinda thin?:wary

If you can thread out the hole and put a bolt in there do so. Don't just try plugging something in there, unless it fits real good cause if that gets loose and flys in the intake you are screwed.

Good Luck:thumbsup

HEEEEEELLLLLL YEAH !!!!! IT works! I plugged the hole better this time(next chance I get I'll use a bolt)and used two gaskets,it almost idles perfect now. I was going to drive it around the block to see if every thing was working right,I ended up driving it for about 30 minutes!I could not believe how hard the car pulls now. This is by far the best mod I've done! Thanks for all the help guys!:thumbsup
