I am getting a new head gasket installed as well as a new thermostat, waterpump, AND timing belt for an estimated $800 parts and labor. Does this sound like a good deal? The first price I was quoted at a shop near home was $2200 for all of the above.

I got mine done for 300. The dealer was way out there on price. The belt alone is 100 + water pump and the thermostat is like 15. I just had the belt and pump done though. BTW that's here in Kansas.

Thatis a horrible price - I mean you should probably be looking at more like 500 to 600, don't take it to the cheapest place, but don't go to the most expensive either. Look over the shop and see how clean/professional it is, look at the other cars there - if they are all shit cars look elsewhere.

But if all else fails, get one of the other 2gnt brothers to help you out - it isn't that hard of a job.
