I am just looking for a place to buy a gasket, preferably cork. I am also wondering what else I should replace/upgrade while Im in there. My car has 124,500 on the bottom end and has never been opened up down there. The top was rebuilt with headgasket about 65k ago. I am planning on lots of work. Gutted cat, udp, oil change engine and tranny, antifreeze, feul filter plugs, lots so dont leave it out as long as it isn't over like $100.

you can just use some black RTV for the oilpan, its only $4 or $5. you can get it just about anywhere. i think walmart even carries it.

You are better off with just RTV than using cork. I've had nothing but sealing problems with cork. I say use a dealer gasket on it.

Cork? Didnt even know they made cork ones. Went to autozone and they only had the metal/rubber ones.

Don't know if they do makje any cork for us... but I've used it on Chrysler 2.2L and 2.5L and has nothign but trouble, very short useful life.

I had over 130k on my motor when we pulled the pan a few weeks ago. Autozone sold me the wrong gasket (a crappy cork one that wasn't even the right gasket) the OEM is pretty sturdy imo, we cleaned it off, and sandwhiched it between to layers of RTV.
block>rtv>gasket>rtv>pan Still not leaking. Next to the Valve cover, it's the ONLY thing that isn't leaking! :P

I will try to get the metal w/ rubber if it will last. I dont want to do this again in the near future. Any prices?
