alright thats my cai. the yellow connector is where the first pipe ends and where i had the filter. is that too close to the engine? i drove it around for a while and popped the hood and the filter was hot as fuck. im thinkin thats not good. so, is that a good place for the filter or should i put the cai pipe back on?

Yeah, that's alittle close to the engine, but if your going to convert to a short ram you are going to have problems with heat anyway ... unless you create some sort of barrier like Corbin did back in the day. Unless you have a lot of problems with water/rain where your at I'd say stick with the CAI. Why do you want to switch to the short ram?

Hey man, Just cut out a scoop in hump on your hood, and make it a ram air setup. Fabricate some kinda airbox for the filter to sit in when the hood is closed. It would be very original don't you think?

I took some aluminum flashing (from hardware store) and cut it with a razor blade to the shape of the under side of the bumper in the left corner, then drilled a couple holes in it and mounted it inbetween the metal frame that runs inside the bottom of the front bumper and the bumper cover. Then I attached it to the bottom of the wheel well with small stanless bolts and lock nuts. It runs directly under the filter, about 17" long at the longest point and mabye 12" wide. It keeps the spray from the tires from hitting the filter, that's what drounds them out unless you're running through really deep water.

Ok, fair enough ... I see why you would want to go to the short ram. I had thoughts as well of making some sort of gaurd and attaching it to the wheel well, like ^^^^ , but I haven't done it yet. You might want to try that before canning the CAI.

you could always just pull off the cold air section when its rainy and put the filter on the short piece. i personally haven't had a problem with water, i have a hose and filter coming off the pulsed air injection hole on the intake and now i also have a breather filter on the upper one(valvecover to intake). i don't know if it does any thing to keep water out but it might. also make sure and keep your filter oiled because the oil repels the water.

Here is what I did.

Kind of off topic, but....

Do any of you guys/gals have a problem with the intake pipe laying on the windsheild washer bottle and it causing an annoying vibration at a stop, or at 1st acceleration after a stop?

We just put on a Iceman CAI on my girlfreinds GS and i popped the hood to see where this vibrating was coming from. I put my hand on the washer bottle and as soon as i held it tight, the vibrating went away. Just for the hell of it i put a peice of cloth from a shirt in between the pipe and the bottle, accelerated and it stopped, tried again but the cloth had already fell out.

I was gonna just put a strip of Dynomat directly underneith the pipe so that the Dynomat was a cushion and hopefully the vibrating would be gone.

Any thoughts?
