So It seems that everyone has there own opinion on where to buy rebuild kits. I have a few questions on what pistons are better the Je or wiesco? Which bearings are better clivette77 or the mopar ones. Also should I order my pistons before I get the block bored so my machinest can make them exact or will I be ok boring it and ordering pistons. He said to wait to get them incase it needs to be bored bigger than the pistons I ordered. Is it possible to shim our oilpumps to get better oil pressure? If so how much should I shim. Also could I buy a stroker crank and rods? If so from where. Howell canot be the only place that offers a stroker motor.TIA

Both brands are excellent, and of equal quality. Most use JE, and have had NO problems with them. Same for wiseco's, but less use them. I think they are a bit more expensive than JE's, but not sure. I was going to go with Wiseco's, but found an awsome deal on soem JE's and a set of JE rings...

Once again, both are very good. I know i noticed on Blackdog's website, that they recomend and use genuine Mopar bearings in thier race engines. So if they use them in that harsh of enviroment in race engines, then I'd say Mopars are just fine. They may be a bit cheaper to use too than Clevitte's. But many use the Clevitte's also. I will prob use the Mopar ones for my new motor...esp since i can get a whole sale price at the Dodge dealership..

If a machine shop bores your motor without the pistons, find a new machine shop! Unless you did some really bad engine damage, the cylinder walls should be fine for a .020 overbore. If this is the case, then go ahead and order the .020 overbore pistons, THEN give them to the machine shop so then can measure the cylinder as they bore it out, to get the piston-to-wall clearence where it is supposed to be.

I know i have heard about people doing something like that to the oil pump to get more flow. Sorry no specifics on that, or your other questions. Good luck

Thanks for your input. This machine shop seems to be the only decent one in my area. Hopefully they will do the job right!

I've been curious about the oil pressure idea... I know for domestic V-8's you can change the spring in the oil pump and get a different pressure... I suppose a washer with the right inner and outer dia. could effectively do the same thing, hmm... I would be happier with a few more psi of oil pressure, just like 5 or 10 psi would make me happy...

That is exactly what I was thinking. I know the rule for v8's is 10 pis per 1000 rpm min. There is no way we have 70 - 80 psi oil pres. It would be nice though.

When my oil is cold I do, but when it's warm I'm in the 55 to 6o range. I wouldlike to pick up a few WOT, and idle psi.
