i was screwing w/my t.b. after boring it out and removed my aem intake to do so,i put all together blah blah blah and test drove it, at 3k rpm's the car kicked violently and sounded like gun shots, really fast. It' wouldn't go above 3k rpms,like it was hitting a rev. limiter. I opened the hood and saw the black plastic clip under that vacuum thing on the valve cover fell off. It goes into the head and is held on w/ a big bulky black clip. It looks like it's something pretty important, did i screw anything up? I put it back on and it runs okay but wierd.

ya, that;s your cam angle sensor... if its loose, or fallen off, your car will stall... or studder like you said..

im sure your intake was restin on it, causin it to come outta its clip...

happend to me...

just make sure your intake piping isnt resting on it... u may have to retighten the coupler at the throttle body to allow movement... or jerryrig a long-azz zip tie around your ecu bracket to pull the piping away from the head/vc..

BIG pat on the back Sean... I didn't know what clip he was talking about from the description, nice catch. Yes an unplugged or bad cam sensor connection will make the ECU rely only on the Crank angle and will go into a safe type mode and driveability will be poor

Normally it'll just stall on the spot. The cam angle sets injector timing.

Let your car idle sometime and unplug it. Poof - no run.
