You don't gain any HP. For every 75lbs you gain about a 10th of a second.

If you are talking about rotational mass (weight) then you gain some HP but I don't think there is an exact calculation for it. If your just talking about weight from the body/interior then what he said ^^^^

are you talking about the horsepower to weight ratio. i think its something like for every 20 lbs you shave off, you free up 1hp. or maybe its 10:1.

body wise, none, but you are pulling less weight and that "makes" it feel more powerful. like the 2nd person said, of rotational mass, ie. knife edging you crankshaft, removing internal engine weight (anything that rotates) including pulleys? you could free up some horses there.
someone correct me if i'm wrong. i'm in a theoretical way of thinking today. i havent done any of this stuff i've just heard about this topic before. *sobb* i'm close to bone stock! sniffle

your correct..
and Ive heard anywhere from 75-100lbs off the cars total weight you save .1 sec in the quarter
So its really pointless unless you can get the weight down to say 2200 lbs or so, then its worth it.. our cars are heavy suckers, thats why there are sooo many allmotor fast hondas, its the power to weight ratio

Yep, i have also been told that for every 100 lbs you loose, you gain around one tenth in the 1/4 mile. So to make it worth while, at least for street racing people, you need to loose quite a bit. For track people, every 100 lbs counts for a quicker time.

this is where you ask yourself if you can deal without certain comforts. I personally have a few of my interior pieces takin out, my back seats will be out, my power steering and A/C shit, along with the whole accessory pully are comin out, along with all my windshield wiper fluid nozzles and all that crap, back seat belts, totally gutted trunk. Then i am putting a 12 and amp and a roll cage in it.....go figure :P

Body panels are the only real way to get your car significantly lighter to feel a difference. Getting a CF hood and if you can CF body panels all the way down(Fiberglass will work but its not as strong). Also the rear hatch glass weighs a ton, get a lexan counterpart. Then gut some of the interior and non-essential engine parts. I think someone said they lost ~500-700 lbs doing all of that. So ~.5 sec off your 1/4 mile and equal to about 180hp with the stock weight. Also doing some basic math the more power you have the more affected your 1/4mi time will be with wieght reduct. It also helps your braking and your handling so its a triple mod. Sorry for the long post ;-)
