44489, iac and speedometer related? Posted by spicyMitsu, Feb-15-03 07:30 PM
recently i got a cel for the iac motor, so i took it out and cleaned and put it back. now i still get the code, the car idles from 2 - 3.5 rpm and drives like shit under non WOT conditions. also as soon as i removed the tb to clean it and the iac, the speedometer either fluctuates rapidly or doesnt work at all. for a moment it said i was going 80 when i was really only going 20. :nono should i just replace the iac or is there more to it?

the IAC shouldn't affect the speedo, just the tach cause it will make your idle fuct up. take your car to pepboys. they can reset the IAC for $50, thats the cheapest place i found. everywhere else wanted $70.

you have to reset the iac?? how would you do that? i figured you would just replace the lil motor thingy and be done with it. reason i ask is cuz mine is screwed up and idling very low.

i found one of the problems. there kinda related because when i took out the intake piping to get to the tb, i must have pushed down on the wiring harness by the egr pipe and melted right threw it. theres one problem fixed (thanks to Extreme97NT for pointing it out). now i got to get a new iac motor.
anyone ever tried using exhaust wrapping for something like a downpipe around the egr pipe so it stops melting the shit out of everything? i think i might try that.
