I am looking at a new clutch/flywheel combo, but have heard varying things about various clutch's. How long would i expect a Stage 3 clutch to last me. I have heard a year tops. Also, should i jus wait till i do my swap and turbo until i get a higher stage clutch and jus get a stage 1 or 2 now? I am projecting about a year or so on the engine/turbo projects completion. All opinions are welcome, TIA NWN.

Clutchmasters stage 4. You'll love it, even if you're still na.

Here is my take...it will very compared to many others on this board.

Clutch Masters seems to be the only brand that has been tested at high HP numbers (high meaning 350-400fwhp)

A ton of people have the stage 4 clutch on this board and like it a lot. I have had 2 stage 4 clutches and my current opinion is that it is w/o a doubt the best for holding power. It doesn't slip at all at the track and took whatever power I threw at it. It is a very aggressive clutch meaning that it doesn’t let you slip it very easily. It is basically an engaged or disengaged clutch and trying to slip it only wears it faster. The stage 4 on my car had a life expectancy of ~15,000 miles. Keep in mind that I run at the track about every other week and that will play a lot on the life of the clutch.

I just went down to the stage 3 non mod. The non mod because it is cheaper to replace hopefully not cheaper in quality. I don’t have it fully broke-in yet so I don't know if it slips under power on not. I didn't go down to the non-mod for any performance reason, it was totally due to cost.

I would wait until you get your turbo before you go to a higher stage, no need for it really.

well with the clutchmaster clutches out now a year is about par on them because of how abbrasive the materials they use on the kevlar and cermaic clutches...

i have clutches that come with a minimal garentee of 6months so if they fail u get a replacement...

u can get a stage 3 or kevlar style clutch now if yours is going out, but it wont help u unless your clutch is already slipping...

i can sell u a clutchmasters clutch and u can wear it out withina year or so or i can sellu something u will be happier with,

my recomendation is a stage 2 half half or a stage 2.5 full fiber tuff...


one other route u could take is, buy a non-modular flywheel get a stock non-modular 95 neon clutch and slap that on and when u do the motor just throw ona stronger clutch after u turn the flywheel if needed..

a stage 1 clutch is no different then a stock clutch...
stage 2 in clutchmasters is not worth the money, their stage 3 is nice and grippy it just wears out too soon..
stage 4 is very strong and grippy it wont not grab but it wears out very fast due to the highly abrasive material they use. It Just Chews up the FLywheel very quickly...
