I read the Import Tuner and they've been mentioning Hyper ground Systems a lot. It doesnt make a huge difference for some cars but its still quite impressive. Does anyone have it on their DSM? I saw one on ebay but its made by R1 Motorsports...let me know what you guys think..thanks :-)

well, this was posted a while back, one of the guys on here got one and noticed some pretty decent gains. he did a write up if im not mistaken of where all the ground points are. do a lil searchin and im sure youll find the answers your looking for. :thumbsup

HKS makes one as well. They have vehicle specific kits, but I don't think they have one for the eclipse yet. But they do offer a universal kit. I think I would pay the extra $$$$ for the HKS!

I was thinking the same thing. I don't see why that wouldn't work. Anyone have any ideas on that?

all it is is grounding certain points in the bay n whatnot. Fuggit, go for a 0 gauge wire :o A homemade version would work just as well, jus make sure that you get the points that it grounds from and to.

so all we have to do is get some big wire, like power wire for amps and ring connectors and go from certain points of the engine to the frame of the car? Where is the write up, like that link only says 6 things in a list, i need a version aimed at stupid people like me :+

hmmm....i own the issue of import tuner that contains the article about this grounding kit. In the article, it states that this company has a patent idea on the wires. I forget exactly what, but the wires they sell flow alot more than regular grounding wires. I do remember they are alot less resistant then most wires. If anyone is really interested, i will look for the issue and post the actual article, i dont think the online article is all of it. Just tryin to help, later.

It is really the size of the wire that would contribute to the current flow, not the quality of the stock wire used... They couldnt have much of a patent on anything except maybe the sheath color or the strand count... really. Using a higher strand count and thicker gauge wire to ground out the car will allow for more current flow and less resistance. I think that using a high quality stereo power cable would provide the exact same result. I have done this and it does seem to provide a more stable idle, but I havent noticed any increase in power. Buying a kit for 100 bucks seems like a serious waste of money unless you dont want to measure and cut your own cabling...

sun has a patent pending on connecting the ground for a car in series... all other systems go off a central grounding point and branch out like a tree, suns has kind of an in and out to every grounding point, and the quality of the wire/strand count/material used makes a HUGE difference

All you are doing is grounding your car. Your car already has grounds for free. Just clean the ones you already have and make sure they are all good. I am sure any new grounding wires will make a difference if the stock ones are not grounding as well as they used to.

A ground is a ground is a ground is a ground, no matter how you look at it. The most important aspect is that the ground point be isloated. I'm sure you can use those big 'gold plated' ring terminals and a zero gauge copper wire and it'll work just as well, cheaper too.

the entire point of the aftermarket ground systems is they use a type of wire that conducts better than stock. and yea, they could patent what type of metal they use and the proportion in which the wires use different types of metals. i agree, you could just as easily make your own by just getting some really conductive materials. i believe silver is the most conductive and copper is real close behind...so get some high quality wire and some good loops to ground with and you should be ok. now i doubt a home made set will equal one made by a company because they have more research and have access to better materials than the average person. somebody might do a writeup on the DIY ground kit...like what lengths and how many wires are needed.

Yeah good call, if someone has an aftermarket set, hook us up w/what lengths go where and etc. Also what kind of terminal to get that posts however many wires into the neg. battery terminal.

In terms of which length goes where...it really doesnt matter....its your discrection when it comes to that......just however you want it to lay out.....thats what i did when I put mine on

Of note, after reading the most recent Turbo Mag on this Ground system, states that these ground wires use special 3-layer shielding for the wires. They also dyno'ed 3 different cars, all showing some improvement, but the article also noted, that they were able to use different grounding points to find the best combination.

I'm not an electrician specialist though. Just thought I'd bring that point up.

i did a homade one, i used 4 gauge battery cables on all of it but the one going from the battery to the starter is 2ga. it improved my idle but didn't make a noticeable diffence in power.

Another mod to add to the already long list of parts to get for the car...:thumbsup

But HOW does grounding your electric power, contribute to getting more power?

Its like saying altezzas will make my car idle faster. (Not dissing you people with them)..

Someone please explain to me, because I have no clue how this will improve something on my car..

i just found the secret to the whole grounding thing. the closer to the alternator and coil you ground them, the more your gains are. and of course if your put out alot of HP, you'll get a bigger gain than on a stock 2g.
