I bought two packages of JB Weld. I should have it back together tomorrow. Anyone have any questions about my external transmission? (It happened directly after roadhead, sorta ruined the experience)

2 things that might help, id replace that oil drain plug, looks like the oem one, my gasket on mine cracked in half, and another thing, thats a ralph lauren shirt! pfft, i use gucci shirts as my dropcloth. lol. how the hell did you do that?

I think one of my spider gears snaped in mine today. Thats what I get for taking my quaife out. I should find out on Thursday, yay!

Those gears are the two small spider gears off the differential. The pin is the infamous pin that slides out and breaks the tranny (which is probably what happened) the washers sit behind the spider gears and all the other pieces are broken tranny case shrapnel.

Heh... I have a similar set of pieces from my busted up automatic. Same breakage, with one of the spider gears being in 3 pieces, the other pristine, the pin snapped, and pieces of metal all over the place. That made for a fun night. Those pieces are actually quite beefy, and won't break on their own. The pin must back out to make that all happen. Those are hardened gears (and the pin is hardened, also).

I was jus driving all normal like...about 3 g's in third gear coasting. Then BLOW! n whatnot. And you see the rest. As for the Polo shirt dropcloth....I hate button up shirts, and i hate collared shirts even more. Plus it had a few buttons missing and a hole in it. So i jus said fahq it and use it as a dipstick cleaner, and now a tranny part cloth thingamabobber. So i guess i do drivetrain things now :P Here i come clutch, flywheel, tranny, lsd, shifter bushings, short shifter....I think thats it.

How hard is it to pull the diff, and have that pin welded, when you are doing a clutch? I don't want that to happen to my tranny, are there any downsides from welding the diff pin in place?

Well....from my understanding the drain oil thing is on the other side of the tranny. Not so sure though. All i know is that i messed that shit up good ;)
