just wondering what you guys think of this. i was quoted on a custom catback by a good shop around here. i'm weighing my options on whether to go with this, or get an evo/n1.
the price was ~630 for 2.5" mild steel, all mandrel bent catback, w/ 27" glasspack, and magnaflow muff and tip. since it's custom this obviously includes installation and all new hangers/bolts/etc.
the 3" w/ all the same features is ~680
for those who have gotten custom systems, does this sound reasonable. the way i figure is an evo is about 520 before shipping, and i would imagine shipping for an exhaust would be a decent amount of money. then i need all new hangers/bolts, and it's about 20 degrees here now, so i wouldn't be able to install it until mid march the earliest.
last question is one that's been nagging me for a while. do you really need 3", even w/ turbo, which's what i'll be in a couple months. if all the piping up until the cat is 2.25" then how much of a diff does 3" make. also can anyone recommend a nice sounding muff/tip(magnaflow) combo that looks similar to the evo/n1 style? tia

I'm sorry, that sounds crazy expensive to me.
3" is only for mad power turbos, and for people like me who just have to have the biggest :P
IMO unless you want to have something different from the crowd, buy a catback, spend 20 minutes under your car freezing your balls off putting it in, and be happy.

My buddy has a 3" engine to the tail exhaust all mandrel bent, installed, but I'm not sure what kind of muffler he has. Whole thing cost him $350.
I think there's a Greddy Evo on ebay right now for $460....get that, buy a glass pack, and pay someone $50 bucks to install it and weld in that glass pack. You're gonna come in cheaper than your custom guy.

just what i was thinking lol.
dude, i dont know people can wait to put on parts! when i get something that is the first thing i do even if its cold outside. i remember when i was rebuilding my engine in the winter cold, not heat, nuts falling off, and a ice, ICE cold beer. lol. get the N1 or something. that is a lot for a shop to charge you.
