43997, what brand short ram air should I buy? Posted by Cresquin, Feb-10-03 12:11 PM
I have had a short ram intake installed for about 6 months (bought it from a user on here), but 2 days ago the weld on the bracket that bolts to the battery holder broke, so now I need a new one. I still have a good k&N filter, just need a sturdy pipe that fits nicely.
not too expensive now... anyone bought from any of the guys on ebay?
TIA

Ebay intakes are a o-tay :thumbsup. I have a CAI that can be taken apart and turned into a ram air. I like it and it was $60 shipped.

Mines not tied or bracketed down at all and it works just fine. You should be ok.

let me give you a little more background:
I discovered the weld broke when my CEL came on. the car wasn't running different so I went under the hood to find the problem. I noticed the weld had broken so I looked around the intake to see if it was rubbing somewhere. The cone filter was rubbing. It was rubbing on my friggin wire group that connects to the ECU causing a short since it had worn through the plastic sheilding and exposed some wires!!!
so I secured the intake with some wire I had laying around and electrical taped the wires that had been exposed. no more CEL, but it feels like a pretty ghetto fix. I really want it to be more secure.
