43558, 60mm CNC Throttle Bodies
Posted by ModernDave, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Hello,

I'm from Modern Performance in Houston, Texas. We currently produce CNC 55 and 60mm throttle bodies for the 95-99 Dodge/Plymouth Neons as seen here http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/mpx_tb.shtml The quality of our TBs is unsurpassed and well thought of in the Neon community. We are interested in producing a limited run of the 60mm TBs in a fitment for the N/A Eclipses in silver only.

What we are looking for is someone in the Los Angeles area who can go to our production facility for test fit/function purposes. The Eclipse must be in nearly stock form regarding the intake and intake manifold setup. This may take more than one or two sessions and may last a few hours. The person who can help us with this will recieve one of the first production pieces for free. Please contact me by email with questions or comments.

We do stock some parts for the Neon that work for the Eclipse already (MSD coil packs, wires etc) and we may have more soon.

Thanks!
David:thumbsup

Wrong people, guys.

95-99 Neon TBs and 2GNT tb's should be the same. Intake manifold is different, but i believe the throttle body is identical. might be wrong, don't spend a lot of time around Neons.

I'm down the road from you guys in Houston, but i'm not interested, personally. There are a lot of us in the area, however, so someone might be.

these are not the NSL throttle bodies NSL bought a modern throtle body and had them copied and resold and screwed many people in the neon world now 2gnt and now ASOG got waxed by it,

Modern has great shipping and great customer service.

I don't believe the NSL throttle body is copied from the Neon TB made by Modern Performance. I compared my NSL to the MPx and they're fairly different. My NSL 60mm kicks ass! I wish they hadn't ripped everyone off, as these are top quality machined pieces of art!

Dino- the neon TB doesn't work for us. It's flip-flopped some odd way so the throttle linkage can't connect.

on this one you would just take off the 2 nuts and flip the throtle linkage so that the hole at the bottom is repositioned closest to the end of the spring.

Please let me be extremely clear on this point: We are NOT x( Neon speed lab. We are not affiliated with them in ANY way. We have put our TBs through several prototype phases to get the one you see today. NSL got one of our TBs and tried to to copy it. He is known on neons.org as someone to stay away from and not do business with. We are a legitimate business thats been around nearly 6 years, not just some guy.

Again, we are looking for someone in the Los Angeles are that can go to the acutal production facility.

Thanks!

Not to post off topic.. but have you guys ever checked good guy/bad guy forum through dsmtraders? Neon Speed Labs is a huge culprit and has more then a few posts of people who got ripped.

Modern Dave is right about them. :)

Hey Everyone,

We have been contacted by quite a few people on the TB production. Our production facility in LA is working with individuals to get things rolling for the Eclipse specific throttle body. Thanks to everyone for your interest! We hope that everyone will be very satisfied with the end product.

Units should be available within 2-3 weeks and a tenative price has been set for $219.99.

Thanks! :D

Dude, just get it annodized if he doesn't make a red one. It's not that hard. What are you buying it for anyway? Looks or performance? Come on man :thumbsup

looks and performance:thumbsup i love red. anyhoo. where would I go to get this thing anodized at and this sounds expensive too?
44378, RE: Update!
Posted by a_miller_76, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Well I don't know where you live but we have a shop here that will powdercoat or annodize stuff. He does valve covers for $15 bucks...so annodizing can't be that expensive.

Okay, once again, is this going to be a limited run of product or is it going to actually be produced and sit on a shelf waiting for sale? If it's limited I guess I'll have to choke and buy one with my tax return...but I'd like to get one in a few months when I get caught up.

Yeah the big difference there is linkage so, glad that all is good. The stock body of the TB is the sameas the Neon's so I'm sure he could use the core he had for them.

What I really wanted to post was that I've ordered from modern Perfomance before with good service and good shipping responce.

Posted by ModernDave, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Well, first off, we would like to thank everyone here for the interest in our new Eclipse Tb's ! We are just as excited as you guys are about these tb's and we are happy we could bring to market more products for the Eclipse/Avenger family. We will bring even more and more products to market shortly as well. (Stay in touch with us or visit our website at www.modernperformance.com periodically!)

To start off, the throttle bodies are only going to be available in 60mm sizings and in silver. We might offer colors later, as well as different sizings if demand is seen. Pricing is $219.99 plus $7 Fedex shipping to your doorstep within the continental US.

We are currently accepting preorders for the 60mm Tb for the Avenger/Eclipse NA 95-99 model, and if you want to get one, its important that you place your order with us ASAP as we have a limited run at first. Eclipse owners are already calling in to place orders with us and because we are not sure of how much demand there will be at first, its important you call asap if you want to get one..

Again, its important you call us asap to place your order with us and get yourself in line for one. We wont bill your credit card until the product is shipped, so theres no harm in holding for one.. Place your order asap!!

For contact information, or more information on our company, etc. Please view our site at www.modernperformance.com

Or, you can email us at info@modernperformance.com, or call us directly at 1-877-247-6366 to order (toll free)

you guys (2GNT). think hard here. do you really want to pr-order?

I now have about 50 2gnts running around my city (Eureka,CA), and I live in a small city. to me the demand seems obvious.

no disrespect to the manufacturer here, or to the 2gnt'ers who say that they are o-k. but....

what is so wrong with manufacturing a product and then saying "we have this product available. if you would like to order one, send us your $$ and we will send one right to ya"?
why does it always have to be "send us your $$ or give us your card #, and we will ship one as soon as we make 'em"?

I'm not trying to start any shit here. I'm just still reeling from the fact that I ACTUALLY sent NSL $200 5 months ago, and sat and waited while they had all the time in the world to produce (they still have'nt).

If they want our business, they should make them, and then sell them IMHO.

once again. THIS IS NOT AGAINST MODERN PERFORMANCE!. I am grateful that they spent the time to consider producing this for our cars. I hope that this is a very profitable enterprise for them.
just take your time and think about this.

I have.

While I am probably not going to order one right now, I agree with above. No offense Dave, but 2gnt'rs have been burnt before by someone that said they were a first class shop and always stood behind their work. You seem very legit and very professional, but so did the last guy and that situation got out of hand in a hurry. Before I order anything I either want to hear that it is available and in stock. Pictures help too. Trust me, if you do produce these you will sell them.
45232, RE: UPDATE 2 - Pricing, Availability, Colors, Where to order, etc. . (long response)
Posted by DarKReaLity, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
i also agree with them^^^^^, i want to see a completed product and i as well will get one, if you guys will mass produce at least 100 of them, i guarantee they will be sold within the next 2 months, there's no other company that you're competing with so it's not like we're going to someone else, there's also other alternatives we can take like the jeep throttle mod, but not many of us are either mechaninally inclined, have the time to make one, or can't find a TB at all. but if you say you can make this for us, tell us it's ready to ship and tell it's legit for performance. i'm also tired of "send in the money and you'll receive to see if there's enough demand". so you're saying if you don't get enough demand, you're not gonna manufacture any and have people wait for nothing? that's kinda getting old.
45236, RE: UPDATE 2 - Pricing, Availability, Colors, Where to order, etc. . (long response)
Posted by FnNitWit81, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I agree with the above also. I have a MODDED jeep 60mm Throttle body, which I make myself. I am still interested in buying one of these when they come out. I will give the money RIGHT NOW!! If infact I was gaurenteed a product of high quality crafsmanship. But like most on this board I am a little wearey about giving my card number or sending any money till I'm gauranteed a product. Nothign against anyone, I'm just touchy with money especially after getting burned.

Can't wait for the release of the RED ones....

Posted by Vandy420a, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Is there still the possiblity of a group buy here?

45241, Explanation (long response)
Posted by ModernDave, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
Ok.. Theres two parts to my response to all of your concerns.

1st - I understand where you are coming from. the guy at NSL came out of noowhere, raped some Neon owners on neons.org and even raped some mirage owners. Check out www.neonspeedlab.com now and youll see that they have now closed down due to lawsuits, etc.

I hate hearing about customers who have gotten ripped off by some of these fly by night companies. It makes the whole industry look bad, and there are a lot of us who do this for a living, have lots of time invested, have a big inventory of parts, warehouse space, etc. We have families to feed and we have rent to pay for as well. We know that your concerned about your money, and the legitimate manufacturers / retailers do too. I want to give you my personal guarantee it is not our intent to rip anyone off.

I highly recommend you do some research on our company. We have been in business for over 6 years, and we are warehouse distributors for many companies- names you might recognize like Iceman (we are their largest Neon parts distributor) Aem, Xenon (their largest Neon distributor) Wings West (ditto) and HRC. We are actually a major sponsor of the HRC drag car and there are pictures on our site that show it..(Feel free to take a look at the front of our site)
There are also almost a thousand Neon owners that have bought our 55mmtb/60mm tb. Ask around in the Neon arena, there are lots of satisifed customers..

We have a legitimate retail / warehouse office in Houston Texas, we are listed in the phone book, and we have pictures of our offices/cars on our website under the about us section..Take a look !!
http://www.modernperformance.com/aboutus.shtml

Lastly, we have had several 2gnt guys call up and preorder the new tb's . As promised on phone with these customers, we will not bill until we ship these out to you. Thats a guarantee, and please feel free to ask around if anyone has been billed for the tb we promised. You will find that no one will be billed till the tb's are shipped.
We also have a 2GNT owner who helped us test out the tb on his car, and hes posting his feedback on the tb in this same thread. So, there are real tb's out in testing and we are serious about making the tB.

The main reason we are asking for people to preorder, is to guarantee your spot in line to get one. We have a batch of the tb's being made, but we are unsure of exactly what kind of demand there is for these. Therefore, if we have people preorder them(they are being made right now, however we can increase the quantities now if need be) then we can make a larger batch if need be. The problem with ordering more later, is that it will take several weeks to make another batch.

So, again, theres a reason we are asking for your preorder, and we are a fully legitimate company who wants your business, who wont bill you till the tb's are shipped. Help us by placing your preorder so we can know approximately how many to make, and your tb will be shipped within approximately two more weeks from today if not less. Wait, or hesitate and it will be several weeks before more are available probably.

If you deliver on these, you could be one smilin' throttle body supplier.:P

btw, asog is as we speak, getting the run around from NSL. if this works out, you should post to their site. (you might want to wait though. they are still going to be a little raw)
