I'm curious, i'm about to buy an Apexi N1 exhaust and it bolts directly onto my car easily..i think..but i was wondering..is there anyway to put an exhaust on without putting my car on a lift? I have no access of a lift..and i don't want to pay midas to put it on for like $100 bucks or whatever they charge. I heard you can like jack up the back end and put it on? Also will I need to buy anything? The old bolts are probably rusted and i'll probably have to use some chemicals to take them off right? Or will i ahve to break them off? Thanks..sorry i've never tried to put an exhaust on or really looked into it.

You can jack the car up but you need to jack it up super high because you have to angle it over the rear axle....and the axle back part is rather long.

I thought I would be able to just put my axleback on myself, but when I jacked it up, the bolts were rusted up the shizzole. No chance at getting them off without airtools and a torch. I just took it to a local muffler shop (all the chain type places in my area won't install a muffler that I bring) and they did it for me pretty cheap. I can't remember the exact price, but I think it was like 60-70 bucks. I plan on going back there to get new piping from the cat to the muffler, and take off the POS buzzing heatshield.

I spent a few hours struggling with those rusted bolts, try to learn from my mistake :thumbsup

when i put my rear section it took me like 7 hrs cause i didn't have any air tools. i jacked the back up and with the help of a can of WD40 and a ratchet i finally got all 3 bolts out in 6hrs. kinda sad but you cant get any leverage when its just jacked up. make sure you have new nizzuts and bolts and some lockwashers. a new gasket would be nice too. i had air to get the midpipe off the cat but they were rusted so bad we could barely break them with full power to the impact wrench.

damn 7 hours? i thought it would be like 1 hour max..jack up the car..spray the bolts with wd40 and also i have this bolt loosener and rust remover stuff i bought that i tried on one of my bolts in my engine bay and after 30 min of the stuff on it the bolts came off easily..maybe this will work on the exhaust bolts too..but i have to buy new bolts and what else for the exhaust? Thanks.

Depending on your luck the bolts will be easy or hard to get off and untightened. If you can get them off its pretty easy to do. Just take off the hangers from the exhaust and of course the bolts. You will need to buy new bolts and possibly new hangers while you are at it because the stock rubber hangers might have gotten old from the road, weather, and such.

A big tip on getting bolts off is to have two people on a wrench and pull/push at the same time. Everytime I've had a bitch bolt with my car or any of my friend's cars we do that and it works 9 times out of 10.

I just took of a Apexi N1 and put my stock exhaust on and it took about two hours. The hardest part was getting the bolt off the cat-converter.

No problem getting the rear section on or off. Just a floor jack and jack stands.

^^^yes, but in your case, the hard work was already taken care of. When I attempted to take off my rear section, it was the original exhaust with 100k miles worth of rust on the bolts. If you had an N1 on there, someone had already taken the stock exhaust off and replaced the bolts new new shiny ones
