:( Hey guys ok first off i bought a new 98 eclipse gs. My car for the past 10-15 days has been sounding sick when i punch it, from a stop to whatever. So i looked around and no vaccum leaks. I looked at my sensors there were good then i looked at my pcv valve, and wierd enough it was soaked to the bone in fuel. The only thing that i could think of was that my fuel pressure regulator was having a problem or something, so i look and its not there. there is just a cap on the end of the fuel rail. So now i dont know if i have one, or were the original vaccum line goes (there is one on the manifold were the old one goes but it goes to the back of the car). Also i bought an AEM one in the past and i am not sure how to put it on so any help on that would be grateful.

not sure about parts of your post but i will try and answer some questions...
the little cap on the far end of the fuel rail is there to cover the pressure valve (wich is used to bleed off pressure in the fuel rail).
might want to do a compression test and check the spark plugs.
Your stock fpr is located under the car by the rear wheel on the pasenger side. Did not quite understand what you were saying about the vacuum line.
What do you mean when you say your car is sounding sick? does it hessitate, backfire??
let us know a little more info will be helpful so as to be able to help you.

Sorry man. Ok well the pressure regulator is under the car??!?!?! in my chiltons it says it is on the fuel rail. ok well when i mean sick i mean like it struggles when i stomp on the gas and sometimes (not often) it back fires. Ok and now i have to ask if the fpr is in the back can i put the universal AEM FPR back there, or should i get a new one, or what?? I previously owned a 95 eclipse gs and the fpr was on the end of the fuel rail. when i asked about the vaccum line i wanted to know b.c somebody told me if the vaccum line was wet then i need a new fpr. but i dont know man im lost.:-) ok well any other info will help thanks.

yeah Since you have a 98 the fpr will be located by the rear wheel on the passenger side. You might have the chiltons for 95, since they have it located by the firewall.
I would think that the AEM universal fpr would work (i have never seen one, might have to see how it will mount up down there). don't see why you would need a different fpr than stock since our cars stock run rich as it is.

ohh, which vacuum line are you talking about?

well hey on the 95 the vaccum hose went from the fpr to the left side left hole in the intake manifold. but since i have a 98 it runs all the way to the back of the car. ok well anyways if it isnt hte fpr that is doing it than what do you think it is??

you said you had gas on your pcv valve? you are refering to the little tube on the drivers side of the valve cover? are you sure that it is full of gas, or is it oil?
what simptoms does your car have when you say it drives bad?

The pcv is located at an elbow between the manifold and the distributer. but yes i am possitive it was gas. i pulled it out and it dripped b/c it had so much fuel on it. your probably just as lost as i am but if you could help then thanks. It is only acting up when im at a stopping position and if im engaged or not and i stomp on the gas it gurgles and pops(sometimes) and then it starts to run right. to me it sounds like a bad air/fuel mixture but i changeed the fuel filter and the pcv valve and checked the sensors. but its not right so i dont know what to do.

man dripping fuel on you pcv valve.. I don't know.. never heard of that..

check your injectors and plugs.. could be that an injector is bad but that sounds like a lot of fuel.

Do you have a check engine light on?

Nope no check engine light.(why do you ask). oh and it wasnt like dripping it was only one drop but to me it seamed like alot coming from the top of the intake manifold and all. I will check my plugs and injectors but i dont think that will do it. ill do it tonight and tell you guys the results if you want Thanks.

It really sounds like an ignition problem. I would guess old or poorly gapped plugs. Other things to look for is oil soaked or corroded plug wire ends (the end that goes to the plugs).
The last thing that I would worry about it being is your FPR, but if you aren't convinced... put a guage on and check your pressure before you replace anything.

I know someone who had a similar problem with a mirage and it was the fuel pressure regulator. After spending tons of money getting the car diagnosed at several shops and putting on new injectors the only thing that fixed the problem was a new fpr.
