42952, Question for those of you with a high flow cat or testpipe... Posted by OZ_GS, Jan-28-03 03:07 AM
How do you hang it???
I am using a gutted cat with a pipe insert right now so it was easy to hange because it fits just like a stock cat but if I were to use a real test pipe or high flow cat, how in the hell do you hang it?? I suppose you can have hangers welded on but is there another way??
Pictures would be REALLY helpful but I wll take just a description if you can enlighten me.
TIA

My testpipe is pretty light, so hangers weren't necessary. It's held firmly in place by the 2 large bolts on each end.

Same here for my testpipe too, just used the 2 bolts on each end to support it, no need to use for hangers.

I had the stock hangers cut off my stock cat and welded onto the new high flow cat by a VERY good welder (my friends always call him "Dave the welder"). this worked out very well, but only if you've got someone who is good at it.

Well my testpipe is custom and it is welded on which sucks cause if I have to get a new exhaust system I will have to order from my downpipe and on down to the exhaust .

I thought about just bolting it inplace but when I installed my header I gave up the downpipe supportso besides the engine block connection to my header the first support would be the cat. I would hate to have any more strain on my header/block connection.
So does a high floe cat still have a catalyst in it??
I emailed the guy selling one on ebay and his is just a resonator with no catalyst...I thought they still did something...
