well now that the cold has arrived and being in wisconsin,, my car doesnt seem to like it much,, ive been having problems getting my car into gear,, actually alot of problems,, its like -3 out,, i hope its not the clutch going, so im hoping that bleeding it will do the trick.. ive heard that this works in caeses like this.. so if you know how to bleed the clutch on this car (97 gs) or have had the same symptoms, id appreciate the help,,thanx todd

I actually work at the Harley HQ on Juneau Ave here in Milwaukee (just customer service though, not a big techie like yourself).

Funny thing is, my hydraulic system on the clutch just went also. Haven't been able to bleed it yet, hopefully tomorrow. If you run a search on "bleed clutch" you will get a lot of help. Look for Kaptain Myke's post, he has a nice write-up for the procedure.

These Wisconsin winters are bad for our 2GNT's!

I am noticing a general trend in this cold weather/clutch problems. Chances are the clutch fluid went dry in your reservoir...that's the first thing to look at. If it is empty, it the master cylinder should be fine. I think in the cold weather the slave cylinder..or somewhere along the lines leaks somewhat. Bleeding is not too difficult. Go over to the slave cylinder, find the nipple. Take the cap off and slightly loosen the bult. Slap a 3/16" or so tube onto the nipple...whatever size is pretty tight and will not leak air. Also have a jar with some fluid in it and the other side of the tube (so no air will get sucked in). then you go in the car and pump the clutch until you stop seeing air bubbles in the jar with fluid...pump slowly too. When they are all out, hold your foot down on the clutch, then tighten the bolt, then take tube off the nipple and put the cap back on. Fire up the car and pump clutch see how it feels. Also make sure you add some fluid to the reservoir as you are bleeding the clutch. This is much easier if you have someone else there with you

aha...bled the SOB today. before bleeding it, the shifter just would not go into gear at all, unless I pumped the clutch a few times between shifts (tons of fun). Now that it's bled, she shifts like a dream again, at least for a little while. Time will tell if this is the real solution. I sure hope so :)

wow thats exactly what my POS was doing,, however i had 2 drop mine off to have it looked at,, i love not having a garage or time,,thanx for the info though,,and im not a techie,, i get the job of making them look sweet, engineers fgiure out how to make em work
