Are there any downsides to this?? I am probably going to do it tomorrow with my buddy's dremel. That's basically it, any helpful tips also welcome

There are plenty of posts on this subject already, including a writeup. I'm sure if you search around you can find all your answers. :-)

The only downside is that this takes a while with the dremel if you want to do a good job. I guess the only other downside is if you get into the metal around the throttle plate, that will screw up your idle. Heres the write up

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure no one has had any problems with their car after this was done.

the only thing you can do without machining a new butterfly plate is to just remove the hump before the throttle plate, any more and you will have bad idle problems and a vacuum leak.

But I just did mine not too long ago and I just removed the hump and it actually made a nice gain in acceleration. I have a torque steer problem now and have just wasted through my tires (but it was fun)
