42629, Restore Compression an easy way? Posted by 1FastEclipse, Jan-24-03 04:57 AM
I was at Wal Mart the other day and decided to go back and look at some of the stuff they had for cars. I seen this one can of stuff that said if you poor it in with your motor oil it will reseal everything and restore compression. It said it is great for high mileage engines and you should add a can every oil change. Does anyone know if this stuff really works or is it bad on the engine? Sounds possible but wanted your honorable opinions first.

If it's that "Restore" in the gray/silver can...it's okay. If you have a mild compression loss due to age it will help some. If you have a major leak due to a blown engine it won't do a damn thing.

I use it every oil change, I figure it couldnt hurt. Definetly on a high mile engine. To my understanding it will coat the walls to help restore compressions. ** Its like $3

i saw sum stuff the other day that said it would reseal a head gasket so i didn't have to be replaced. i don't remember the name of it. don't know if it works though. it was in one of those inside the auto industry mags that shops get.
