42503, Cam timing for 2.4

My question is when using the 2.0 head on the 2.4 block do you set up the cams like the 2.0 (the dowells opposite, intake down, exhaust up) or like the 2.4 both dowels down. The problem with setting them up like the 2.0 is the marks on the 2.4 side of cam gears are different. How did you guys do this?

P.S. After this is done the motor is ready to go back in the car.

I found it easiest to time the motor with the valve cover off, noting the holes on the top of the cams in between cylinders 1 and 2. These 2 holes should both be facing up for the motor to be at TDC. I stuck a dowell in each one, and measured to make them perpendicular to the deck.

Im assuming you are setting up the cams like you would for the 2.0. Also which tensioner did you use?

Yeah, that is for a 2.0 setup. You are using the cams from a 2.0, so the cams should be set up like a 2.0. And I unfortunately have the crappy spring type tensioner. Everyone say ewwwww for me!
Thanks.

What does your tensioner look like? The one we got is supposedly the redesigned tensioner for the 2.4, it is a pulley that is attached to the bracket that bolts to the block (there is no plunger type thing or anything like the 2.0)
