42349, Tranny bites the dust
Posted by Avenger, Jan-21-03 02:15 PM
Well, the last weakest part of the car bit the dust. Not the motor, not the head, not the clutch ... the transmission. There is a nice 4" X 1" hole in the bottom of the transmission around the diff. :( No wonder there wasn't any trans fluid. LOL. I can only laugh at it and be thankful that even with whatever crap broke off and spit itself out of the bottom of the transmission it still took my butt 60 miles around town till I got it to the shop. Well, on the bright side, there won't be a single thing not completely built up under the hood in a week.

Damn! Sorry about that Thura. By the time you finish breaking things, and upgrading them your car is going to be a beast. Keep us posted.

I'm trying to think of what else can break so I can replace that too! I've decided to move to a non-modular clutch since the trans is out again. I really didn't like the CFDF. It's too light for my tastes.

I can't tell if its the diff pin or not but I don't suspect it. For what I could see (trans is not opened up yet) looks like a tooth or 2 are broken off the diff gear. That probably where whatever broke off caught on and got slung out the bottom. I'm guessing it's a bit of a shift fork or something. I'm shopping for a trans right now to rebuild all nice and new like.

As far as I can say ever since a particular girl called my car rice it's been breaking things left and right .... I think she hurt it's feelings. Another reason why girls are EVIL!! Damn woman.

I got to have all the kinks worked out of the car by July. MUST have car by July! There are still quite a few things left before I deem the car worthy of making that trip.

Diff pin. No doubt. Wait till Joe opens it up..

That royally sucks though Thura. it's always something, right?

I tell you she cursed my car calling it rice. I think it needs a good exorcism.

It can't be the diff pin. There is no way it would have driven another 60ish miles after spitting that thing out. But we'll see soon enough.

Sure it would have. The pin doesn't come all the way out - just enough to peel open the diff housing like a tin can, then it probably broke off and flew somewhere else.

if it's not the diff pin, i'd be suprised.

Damn, Thura, that sucks. Sounds like my tranny that's still sitting at my dad's house with a hole in it.
