I decided to do the EGR pipe mod and now I've got CEL's--Generic codes 108 (MAP voltage too high) and 1294 (idle target not reached).

Basically, the car idles around 1500 RPM, and it sometimes surges between 1100-1600 RPM's at idle. I've tried loosening the throttle linkage cable (even to the point that it sags) and that didn't solve the problem. Also, the car idles high and surges when coming to a stop or very low speed cruising. The high RPM also occurs in between shifts, as if the throttle plate (Oh, I have a Howell bored t/b) is sticky or stuck around 2000-3000 RPM.

I don't think it's caused from sticking throttle plates becaused I thoroughly cleaned the throttle body before I reinstalled it. I just can't figure out what's causing this. Is it possible that I've messed up the TPS or IAC when I removed them from the throttle body, in order to clean the throttle body?

I did noticed that the TPS "probe" is movable. I wonder if I changed its values when I wiped the TPS and moved that little shaft. Has anyone that's done this mod experienced any of these problems? Any comment(s) are welcomed. Thanks!

Stupid question, how did you seal the EGR port on the upper intake mani?

yeah it sound like it didn't seal properly and you have a vacuum leak.

I sealed both locations with a .035" aluminum and re-used the gasket and also applied some copper sealants to the gasket. I might have to recheck the seals again for any leaks, although I did hear a small leak. Thanks for the replies! Any more ideas?

Check the install on your TPS and IAC. TPS has a rubber seal around it, if you pinch it the TPS won't get the full sweep. Check that and for vacum leaks.

Thanks for the help guys. I removed the throttle body to check my block off plates and they are both tight. However, I did see that the rubber O rings on the throttle body and IAC were pinched (probably when I reinstalled it the first time.) Thanks for the tip, Michael!

Now, the car idles normal. I took the car out for a few WOT pulls, and now I got a CEL 204, misfire in cylinder #1. It's always one thing after another:(
