41961, AFX ecu 98-99?? Posted by RS_98, Jan-17-03 04:29 PM
I know the topic has been brought up but i havent been able to get any clear answers, so i just wanted to know what the differences from 97 to the 98 and 99 ecu's where that would make the 97 afx ecu not work with 98 or 99. Also i saw in the archives someone said AFX ecu's for the 98 and 99 where supposed to come out sometime after the first of the year so if anyone knows anything about that i would appriciate any help, thanks a lot.

a 99 ECU will not power a 99 car. A 98 ECU won't power a 97 or a 99 car. So on and so on. They won't swap. That's all.

The AFX ECu's for other years are dependant on the sales of the 97 ecu. Know someone with a 97 that wants to make it go faster? Make them buy a 97 ECU. The more they sell, the better the odds are of having a 98+ ecu.
Sell enough, maybe tney'll make 'em for 95's too.

i had a ECU off a 99GS AT on my 98RS MT. it worked just fine except my rev limit was lower and the CEL would stay on.

i called them a couple days ago and they said they were in the program writing portion of the project. testing would begin in about a month and they were planning on bring it out as soon as they could. he, i dont know who, said there was no plan in delaying the sales of the 98s 15.882@86.27

I know this post is a few months old, but i figured i would bring it up rather than starting a whole new one. Any update on these ECU's?? How far along is Howell right now??

they are still working on programming for the prototype, I'll let everyone know if I get more info
and if you go to www.howellautomotive.com you should be ablr to get info about the AFX computer there, you'll have to look in the neon section, but the same info would apply
