Ever since i did the water pump, i can't get the crank pulley on correctly. I've tried every weapon around the garage and beat the hell out of it, i can't get it to go on fully. It goes on enough to keep the alternator belt on, but it wobbles and the psac belt goes flying. Anyone else had this problem? Essentially, it's one rib shy of being fully on.

Have you tried the oven? Heat that monkey up and it'll slide on like butter. If that's not working use the crank bolt to pull it on. And don't take this the wrong way, I don't think you're an idiot, but is the notch in the pulley lined up with that little pin on the crank?

You can even put it into one of those small toaster ovens. I thin when I tried it all I needed was to set it to 350-400 degrees or so and that was it. It doesn't have to be in for very long, it's aluminum it will heat up quickly.

i don't think there is a notch, the notch with the woodruff key is before the accessory crank pulley. The crank pulley can go on anyway, i think. It just gets slapped on. Maybe if i torched it? I have a mini-propane torch i can torch it with. I already returned my crank pulley puller so i can't remove it again. I don't take offense, everyone screws up,but i really think the woodruff key & notch is before this accessory crank pulley.

just use an impact wrench and the bolt will pull it on. if you don't have an impact wrench most places will do it for free. just take off the shield thing and then go to someplace and ask them if they can just hit one bolt for you. if you turn the wheel all the way to the right they can just reach in through the wheel well and get it. it takes 2 seconds.

blah! I prefer to just stay away from the passenger side of our engine bay! nothing but trouble! ;-)

There is no notch it's not a harmonic balancer pulley, just a damper.

I tried the heating it up trick... did next to nothing for me, but I did try it in colder weather and average weather so mayeb it cooled too quickly...

I threaded a couple of bolts from the pulley puller into the pulley and put a screwdriver between them and against the frame to hold the pulley still and them used a breaker bar on the pulley to pull it on, I wouldn't use my impact gun to push it on.

Haha, that's a great usage of "pull". I have an electric impact wrench, it's not bad, i used to it drive the bolt on as far as possible. Towards the end, i could turn the bolt about 1/4 turn per 10 second blast, so i finally stopped doing it that way. I'll mess with it later this weekend.

Impact gun works wonders. I've done it that way for at least a dozen times now. Just use your head, and take it slowly. Also use a thick, large washer on the bolt to help distribute the forces of the bolt pushing on the pulley.

Well mabye it's dirrerent on 95's but my crank has a little pin through it, and my pulley has a cutout on the back side of the pulley that meets up with the pin through the crank. That way the pulley always spins with the crank. Basicly it may just be there to insure the pulley is not too far on the crank. Does that make sence? Are you using the afxudp or are we talking the stocker here?

In the future if you ever need to do it again Dont use a torch on the pulley because it can cause the pulley to expand and contract unevenly and can warp it essentially. Ive heard of peolpe doing this alot with the aluminum UDPs. they end up with belt problems because of the distorted pulley. Use the oven bro.
