41705, Stuff needed with changing the timing belt.....?????? Posted by bluefire, Jan-14-03 10:01 AM
I know this has been asked a 45435445 times before...but I need to know what all parts EXACTLY I need to change the T-belt and water pump.???
I got a price quote from Bob Kise. It is as follows. What parts do I actually need off of this list.??
t belt 65.00 pully 28.00 pully and brkt 59.00 tensioner 83.00 w pump 68.05 gast 3.00
I know the belt, idler pulley and water pump. But what is that pulley and bracket, ??and do I need another tensioner??. I have 100,800 miles on the car now. It needs to be done, AND soon.
Thanks

the pulley and bracket are not needed..sort of.. You have 2 pulleys on the T-belt path. One pulley is attached to the head as a single unit. Thats your one pulley. Then you have another pulley that is attached to the tensioner bracket, sold as one unit. BUT, BOTH pulleys are IDENTICAL, so just get two pulleys, and then unbolt the old pulley off of the tensioner bracket, and replace with new pulley. I found this out after actually doing the t-belt install..i was kinda pissed i spent all that money on a damn bracket i didnt even need..

Thanks. It's definatly cheaper just getting 2 pullies instead of that bracket and the tensioner.
