I think you're looking at the wrong stage 2. You need to look at the stage 2 setup specifically for the RS/GS. The mitsubishi GST and GSX have a completely different engine and transmission then the RS/GS models.

But yes, we can be turbo'd, but just be careful because it's really not the same car at all.

If you have specific questions, please post and I (and others) will help, but check out the "Things we've seen before" section to get some more insight. http://forums.2gnt.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=list&forum=DCForumID36&conf=DCConfID9

Dude i know we can turbo that wasn't the question. I turbo my friends gs with a diffrent turbo set up and it was bad ass (NO PROBLEMS) the question was is the intercooler going to mount up right or not. I know i can push this turbo with about 10 psi and i also know that the car itself can handle up to 12 psi and handle up to 300Hp without any internals done to it. I take it you never herd of the hahn racecraft turbo set up but thinks for the reply. I appreciate it.

Here's a link to the proper HRC turbo kit for our cars.

Hahn's stage 2 kit for the 420a does not come with a t3-t4 hybrid turbo. It comes with a 16g. The star kit comes with the t3-t4. Are you speaking about the star kit?

Your a pompas ass man. Don't come in here spouting off to respected members of this board when you are the one who made the error in the first place. You can push way more than 10psi on that turbo, and I hope you know what to do to your fuel system to support 10 or 12 psi on stock internals or you will be rebuilding real soon. Also we have a turbo section, that's where this post belongs. Now to answer your question, I believe that with the Hahn intercooler there will need to be a few mods done to the bumper. You could check the Hahn website and I'm sure it would tell you, or you could call them. But from all your knowledge that you have displayed already I guess you knew all that right? BTW just so that I know what to do to run 12 psi on stock internals how do I have to set my fuel up? And also how much is the Hahn set up with the t3-t4 turbo? I'd realy like to know

hey man i didnt mean to make any of you guys upset. if i did then im sorry on the way it came out. the Hahn racecraft stage 2 setup does come with the T3-T4 hybrid turbo (SPECIAL) it is running about 300 dollars more than the original stage 2 kit from hahn. i went to a place called jo-tech and alamo in dallas and they both said that I can get it from around $3,300. they also said they wernt sure about the intercooler mounting, so i ask you guys. thanks for the info.

either way....whether u use the 16G or the T3/T4 turbo, you wont be able to just hook up anykind of intercooling system which was made for the 4G63 motor. Simply put, the engine is essentially kinda backwards. Im sure you could rig up the stock GST/GSX system or an aftermarket system with the in/out spouts facing the right direction by having a welder do it.

Well I would check into it with Hahn. The reason I say this is that the Hahn manifold will not accept the t3-t4 turbo without some mod's to the manifold. As far as I know Hahn does not even work with those turbos, so it may be something the shop is doing different for the kit. You also have to realize though that this turbo will have different fuel needs than the 16g that hahn usually works with. So if the shop is just slapping a t3-t4 turbo on the hahn manifold then the fuel will not be right, because the stage 2 fuel system is designed around the 16g turbo. Does that make sence? I would call or e-mail Hahn and see if this is something that they acctually do, because to my knowledge they only offer the super 20g as an upgrade. I would check into this with Hahn before I made any decision about that kit. I have never even heard of Hahn using the t3-t4 turbo.
I'm sorry if I reacted harshly before but a lot of people shoot off at the mouth when they are new here thinking they know something when in reality they are not right. When that happens some members may take their words as fact and that's what we try to avoid here.

agreed^^^^

just a word of advice...

If I were to buy a Hahn kit, I would buy it direct from Hahn. That way if any problems arise, I could easily just contact them instead of getting the run around from a middle-man. (Though I have no idea of the shops you are working with, they could be excellent, who knows)

Also, I thought you pretty much had to rebuild the bottom end if you planned on running 10-12 psi (daily at least)?

Yeah you are pretty much correct about that. You would at least have to upgrade the fuel system to run those boost levels on stock internals. And at 12 psi you wouldn't be driving for long, 10psi you could do but not on the stock kit parts alone.

OMG. How are you going to tell me I don't know what the HRC turbo set up is WHEN I GAVE YOU A LINK TO IT?

I try to help out and I get shit for it. I hate disrespectful people.

Forget it. Do whatever you want. If you don't blow up, good for you. If you do, well, good.

Hahn doesn't work with the T3 turbo at all. If you're getting a 'Hahn' kit with a T3, someone is swapping parts. I just had a long conversation about turbos with Len Ayala at Hahn last week, and funny, but he never mentioned anything but their Super series turbo. I'd be leary of whoever is trying to sell you the kit.

dude you threw this whole question way out of spec. I am getting a custom made turbo set up. Kirby says that the t3-t4 hybrid wont fit with the exhaust manifold. I guess the guys at jo-tech lied. All i wanted to know if the intercooler had to be a custom put on job or if the intercooler was a direct bolt on (thats it.) i mean no dis respect. i got lied to and i ask a simple question. Kirby said something about the star stage 2 turbo kit. do you ahve a website were i can find that. it would help alot. thanks,
41689, RE: Have any of you made a GS a GS-T
Posted by woppishbob, Jan-15-03 12:34 AM
the website is turbogs.com. By the way, why would Hahn even bother with something like that when you already get a 16g turbo with the regular stage 2's. Star's kit is also about 500 bucks cheaper. I believe Hahn would also have to use a totally different manifold because of the different flanges, and the 16g flange is located in the middle (I think) and for a t3/t4 turbo it'd be the dowpipe would not have a clear path.
41690, RE: Have any of you made a GS a GS-T
Posted by optimuspeterson, Jan-15-03 10:29 AM
well since there is a need for a external wastegate on the t3/t4, that is why you need the turbo to be mounted on the side of the manifold (clearance problems). the other problem is since the turbo is relocated and the turbo is different from the s16g then the piping and down pipe must know be changed. So the only part that would actually come from hahn would be oil and fuel lines. just watching out for you

Well if it's a custom kit that's a different story, you can do anything you want. But in your inital post you said hahn racecraft stage 2 kit with a t3-t4 hybrid. That does not exist and that's why you got the reaction you did. If they are doing a custom setup then they can do anything if it works, but it's not a Hahn kit. Welcome to the board, I'm sorry if it was a little rocky but as I said above you acted like you knew something was a fact when it wasn't. No beef here brother, good luck to you. as for the intercooler go to www.hahnracecraft.com and look up the intercooler upgrade and see what it says about install.
