41617, Starter grinding w/ Fidanza Flywheel Posted by WickedESi, Jan-13-03 08:26 PM
I have a very lightweight Fidanza Aluminum flywheel and a Clutchmasters Stage I cluch. Whenever I start my car it starts pretty damn fast and grinds even if you just tap the key into the start position. There has been a few times when I hit the fine line between my engine not getting cranked and grinding.
I was wondering if you other people w/ a Fidanza Aluminum flywheel (from a neon of course) have this problem.
I have a bosch starter, which came on the car when I got it, but worked perfectly before I put the new clutch setup on.

Im auto so excuse my stupidity, but is there somewhere to move the starter gear around, maybe its just not aligned with the flywheel teeth, maybe its not fully seated in the flywheel teeth. Just a guess. Maybe the fidenza flywheel really isnt for our starter gear, maybe a different tooth count gear in the neon?? Just my .02$

go check torque and alignment of the starter in the front of tranny bell housing and see if its in spec...

I didn't know it could go out of alignment :o
I've seen a lot of people with a Fidanza Flywheel in your sig mod list. Please let me know if you experience the same thing.
