i have removed it from a GST, its easy to remove. you just have to get a smaller belt to go from the powersteering pump to the crank. i don't know what kinda power gains you'd get. probably 1or2 hp from reducing the load on the crank and maybe free up another 1 or 2 from the weight being removed.

ive "kind of" done it...i ran a smaller belt between just the crank pully and p/s pully for a while, and there was no noticable gain in HP from the lower resistance. the weight reduction would be negligable as well. what WOULD be noticable is the lack of quick defogging and pissed off uncomfortable passengers (if you live in the south like me where it can reach 70 in the winter).

unless its just a race/weekend car, dont do it. your time can be spent doing better mods.

ehhh mine dint have it. Don't miss it. Few hot days here and there but... if i get hot that just means im not going fast enough.. :p

<edit> but stupid faggy UDP came with a WAYYYY oversized belt , i guess to include the A/C compressor pulley. Means i'll be using the old gator grip I had with the original crank pulley. Wish me luck.

Why are you removing your A/C? I live in SoFLA and I would have to run 10's before I remove my A/C!!! You're not going to pick up that much power.

The only reason I would think you NEED to remove the A/C is if the A/C core is blocking air to your radiator causing you to overheat. Usually this only happens when you have a big FMIC blocking everything.

I pulled all my a/c accessories which is about 30 to 40lbs all together including the fan....I saw better accellaretion but I also pulled out all my power steeering acc. to and that to gave me better accel. but over all I hate canned air thats why I pulled the A/C

i didnt really find any diff
i now race with it on.. but i need some good pullies

Well I got this ohio weather so its cold all year round. But honestly, its a weekend warrior... but if theres no reasonible power gains from the removal of it then I guess there is no point of doing it. Ive seen figures from companies about underdrive pully and how much they are spose to gain. How much gain would i get from an underdrive pully and lighter pullys for the accessaries....Is that worth it or no?
