sorry to post another "EGR" question, but the other day my check engine light came on.. I didnt think much of it I just figured that the ECU finally figured out that the guts of my catalytic conv. were missing. I just changed my oil and inspected the engine bay and saw that the little hose coming off the top of the EGR valve had busted/come off... Will this do any damage (other than the annoying CEL)??

it connects to the intake manifold so if its broke or disconnected you will have a vacuum leak and your EGR valve can't open.

thanks but is that good or bad.... The car does seem to have a little more pep in the last couple of days.. Not that that is the reason, its probably because its been about 15-25 degrees with no snow(I park it during the winter) and Im not used to its performance with in the cold.

yup the cold air will give it alot more 'pep'. how has the idle been on it? usually when there is a vac. leak your car will have an unstable idle. which would be bad.

ive beent rying to research the egr resitor mods that ive seen on the neon boards and wondering if anyone has done them ona 2gnt with sucess?
we can use the egr plates froma neon right?

this is how i have mine set up. it keeps my cel from coming on except when i drive around for a long long time with the pedal floored. and the reason it does then is because my car doesn't have a steady idle when its hot so it sticks at higher rpms when the car is checking the EGR system.
The detect operation of the system, the solenoid is disabled and the 02 compensation control is monitored. If the EGR system is operating properly, turning it off shifts the air/fuel ratio in the lean direction. 02 sensor data should indicate an increase in oxygen in the exhaust gases and cause the short term control to shift rich. The amount of the shift indirectly monitors the operation of the system.

Yes you can use the Mopar EGR block off kit, same for the Neons. The vacuum leak is bad at least cap it off so there isn't a leak.
I threw a resistor in mine, but I have no idea if it helped (since I took out the CEL bulb) I need to plug her into an ODB-II and see.

Michael- what size resistor did you use and where did you put it?

I guess the idle has been just fine... I mean I havent noticed any difference... yeah cold air gives it way more pep, b/c if I mash the throttle after the engines warmed up it will spin the tires a bit towards my shift point and then I get a nice good second gear scratch. So as long as the idles fine I dont have any major threat as of yet... Ill fix it later because it finally started snowing here so itll be parked until spring, I have other things to fix now(blown shock in the back right) stupid auto-x.......

if its gonna be parked for the winter make sure and put some fuel stabilizer in.

bump resitor size and whos done the jsut block off the vacume line adn then the egr doesn't function do u have a CEL
whos done the resistor mod do u have a CEL?
who just un plugged their CEL light?

I have a CEL.
Everything plugged in and bolted on, just a block off plate in there for no flow.
