My 96 mits. 1st and 2nd gear is very hard to shift. Before I moved from Alabama to Kansas it was doing fine. I was wondering if is the cold weather. When the trans. warms up it shifts fine. It has a new clutch and motor 3500 mi. on it. Any help would be nice.

Could be the throw out bearing. Did they replace the throw out bearing when they did the clutch?

Yes I replaced the throw-out bearing. Got to reading in my chilton and I read some thing about adjusting the shifter cables. Do you think that could be it.

Mine does it when its cold too...right in the manual it says its normal for it to be hard to shift when the engine is cold, i wouldnt worry. my first 1st-->2nd shift of the morning is always a little rough, after thats its fine.
