Hie, I've got a problem. My eclipse's check engine light on the dash is on. My mechanic doesn't know what's wrong but he says it's probably the Catalytic Converter or the ECU. My guess is it could be the catalytic converter. Any advice on what I should do? What kind of catalytic converter I should get? I found one on ebay for only $50 bucks. It's by Bomz Racing (whatever that is). Any opinions? Thanks.

If your mechanic is trying to diagnose the car without checking to see what the DTC your PCM set, FIRE HIM RIGHT NOW!
Your car will tell you exactly what is malfunctioning with a free and simple test. Do not make guesses or trust others guesses without throughly diagnosing the problem!

Like Bryanacr mentioned, don't guess. Find someone that has a code scanner or go to Autozone to get a free code scan. Find out what the code is first. Don't guess and start changing parts. It'll cause you more money and headache.

Exactly, check the codes. This is the first step for diagnosis on any problem that causes a CEL.

Thanks a million guys. I'm very grateful and appreciative. I'm still new at this. Don't really know what to do to my car. Hehehe. Thanks again.
