41313, Is this normal? kinda long

i had the MLS headgasket put it because my other one blew out. They also did a timing belt replacement and replaced a valve. i picked it up today, about 20 miles down the road the check engine light comes on.heres whats going on, the car is running really rough, when im on the gas it seems to smooth out and act perfectly normal. i took the car back to the repair shop, and they told me that it was because of the valve, that cylinder 1 wasnt producing as much compression as the other three, and thats what was causing it to run rough. he said drive it over the weekend, see if it smooths out because the valve needs to seat. is he right, or did he screw up my car and just isnt telling me? oh, i also had the AF/X underdrive pulley installed, could that be part of the problem? TIA.

i'm not sure, sorry.
but i can tell you i think mechanics mess different stuff up on purpose. i was going to get my car back today (line to slave cylendar burst due to rotting) and now i need a new transmission.

is it me or do new problems *happen* to happen after going to a mechanic? or does my luck just suck?
