41, Aftermarket Timing Belt?
Posted by Nitrous_RS1997, Dec-31-69 06:00 PM
I noticed there is a HUGE difference in price from the dealer timing belt and water pump, compared to what you can get at parts stores such as pep-boys. are these low grade products? or is the dealer just way over priced? thanks for any help. also, other than the belt and water pump, what else should i get? thanks a lot, my uncle( a mechanic) will be doing the change.

Yes...should the timing belt be MOPAR OEM or some other brand?

I would stick with OEM just because that's what our cars came with and timing belts are so important. Mitsu wouldn't put a cheap timing belt on or then everyone would bend their valves and cost them thousands in warranty work. At least that's what I'm hoping...

good point...sure hope it's worth it cause the timing belt costs quite a few pennies!

I don't know about Mitsu not using "cheap" parts/

Look at the headgasket, man

My 2 cents

Hehe but at least they tried to improve it, with all the different versions that later came out...

That's good to know after my gasket popped like a zit on a 15 year old. Good to know that I've still got my sense of humor about it.

I'm using a Goodyear GatorBack belt... At the advice of my shop... they say this is the best I can get.. also good because it has a warranty.

Yup Gatorback going on when my head gets back from the machine shop.

And it's a chrysler belt not a mitsu. Pretty much all engine parts are chrysler. As for who made the belt for Chrysler... that I don't know.

The Gatorback is already on my new engine.

Just a little FYI, it's part # 40246. Autozone has em as well as Goodyear.
