my friend with a neon, heard that some guys with SAFC's in thier neons were running 5 in and 5 out, and that eliminated the code we/they get. anybody heard anything about this? what is the pressure in/out for again? MAP? whats the difference between 5 in/out vs. 7in/out?
thanks

On my car, 7in7out gives me correct pressure readings. Nothing else does.

As for why it'd remove that code... got me. No reason why it would..

what are the correct pressure readings? is it the voltage from the MAP sensor? thanx Dino.

The correct pressure readings would be the actual manifold pressure in mm/HG - like 460mm/HG at idle, and seeing about 18in/HG on your boost gauge. While in boost, seeing exactly zero or the MAP limit of 0.01 kg/cm2 (which is what my AFC displays while i'm in boost) would be "correct" for a 1bar map sensor.

Make sense?

I think that he was asking what the 7 in and 7 out mean, to try to rationally figure out which setting would be ideal.

I have no idea exactly what the in & out do, other than vary the displayed pressure.

it has something to do with the MAP sensor, and how it passes the voltage from the MAP to the ECU. Other than that... Couldn't tell ya. Maybe someone else knows..

Basically....

The In and OUT values tell the AFC the range of the MAP sensor, both voltage and pressure.

I'm not sure why it would, but if you have it set incorrectly, then it sends an incorrect signal to the ECU. Having it set to 6/6 gives a CEL and poor performance on my eclipse. But 7/7 is correct.

Come the weekend I may investigate a little further..... Maybe I'll put the ins and outs of the AFC on the Scope......
