40859, transgo kit and ignition
Posted by DSMeclipseGS, Jan-04-03 02:02 PM
I got an auto gs and I'm fine with that. I just want to quicken the actual shifts since the tranny takes forever to shift. You auto guys out there know what I mean. I read on a site that the transgo shift kit makes the shifts shorter (and i believe a little bit "harder"). However, I remember people posting that they couldn't really feel too much difference? It may have been on the ASOG board. Does anyone have the kit and can you confirm if it does indeed quicken those shifts up?

Also, I read that you can get an upgraded ignition to raise rev limits. Will that allow the auto to shift at a higher RPM? I doubt it but I'm not sure. What is involved in an aftermarket ignition? Lots of installation??? tuning???

Is it possible to make the auot shift at say..... 7K instead of 6.5K???? Thanks for any info.

this is corbin's write up on the kit.
I have the kit but haven't installed mine yet, but from what I've heard it does firm up the shifts quite a bit if you drill the holes out the full amount. you have to admit that for $20.00 and an afternoon you can't go wrong.

as far as I know there is nothing that you can do to raise the shift rpms...sorry dude. my advice is either to build up the engine to compensate, or bite the bullet and swap in a manual trans.
